The information we collect

Information you give us directly. When you request a quote, submit a form, call, email, or apply for coverage, we may collect your name, mailing address, email address, phone number, date of birth, marital and family information, employment and income information, Social Security number, Medicare number or Medicare Beneficiary Identifier, existing insurance coverage, and the beneficiaries you name on a policy.

Health information. To quote or apply for health, disability, Medicare Supplement, Medicare Advantage, or certain life insurance products, we may need information about your medical history, current health conditions, prescriptions, and the providers you see. Health information is treated as sensitive personal data under Texas law, and we collect it only with your consent and only when it is necessary to serve you.

Information collected automatically. When you visit our website, we may automatically collect your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, the time and date of your visit, and the site that referred you, through cookies and similar technologies. Why we collect it

We use your information to respond to your inquiry; prepare quotes and compare plan options; submit applications to insurance carriers on your behalf; service your policy, including renewals, claims, and changes; communicate with you about your coverage; comply with insurance laws, licensing requirements, and carrier and regulator requests; and maintain the security and proper operation of our business.

We do not use your information for any purpose that is not reasonably necessary and compatible with the purposes described here without first telling you.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only as needed to serve you or as the law requires. The categories of third parties we may share it with are:

  • Insurance carriers and their underwriters, to obtain quotes and submit applications

  • Field marketing organizations, general agencies, and brokerage partners through whom we access certain carriers and plans

  • Service providers who support our business — such as our website host, email and quoting platforms, and client management software — and who are contractually required to protect your information and use it only for the services they provide us

  • Regulators and law enforcement, where required by law, subpoena, or a lawful request from the Texas Department of Insurance, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, or another authority

We do not sell your personal information. We do not sell your sensitive personal data. We do not process your personal information for targeted advertising or for profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects concerning you. Your rights as a Texas resident

How to make a request.

We will take reasonable steps to verify your identity before acting, and we may ask you for additional information to do so.

Our response.

We will respond without undue delay and no later than 45 days after we receive your request. If we need more time, we may extend that period by an additional 45 days and will tell you why within the first 45 days.

If we deny your request — your right to appeal.

If we decline to act, we will tell you why and explain how to appeal. To appeal, reply to our decision or email privacy@williamzapalac.com with the subject line “Texas Privacy Appeal.” We will review the appeal and respond in writing within 60 days, including our reasoning. If we deny the appeal, we will provide you with a method to contact the Texas Attorney General to submit a complaint. You may also contact the Texas Attorney General directly at texasattorneygeneral.gov/consumer-protection/file-consumer-complaint.

Authorized agents.

You may designate someone to submit an opt-out request on your behalf, including through a browser or device setting that signals your opt-out preference. We honor recognized universal opt-out preference signals.

Sensitive personal data

Health information, Social Security numbers, and certain other categories are treated as sensitive personal data under Texas law. We obtain your consent before we process sensitive personal data, and we use it only for the insurance purposes you have asked us to carry out.

Children’s information

Our website is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. We may collect information about a minor child in connection with a policy or application submitted by that child’s parent or legal guardian, and we handle any such information in accordance with applicable law. If you believe a child has provided us information outside of that context, contact us and we will delete it.

How we protect your information

We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, use, or disclosure, appropriate to the volume and sensitivity of the information we hold. Third-party websites

Our site may link to carrier websites, quoting tools, enrollment portals, or Medicare.gov. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you visit.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of the page. If we make a material change to how we handle your information, we will provide a more prominent notice.
